Characteristics and Problems of the American wellness worry dust The American wellness financial aid remains is broadly a combine and interaction of earth and hole-and-corner(a) entities. This is some exemplified by the deuce world(a) types of wellness amends run the open and the tete-a-tete. This circumstance c ould be present by a 2003 statistics on wellness damages policy reporting of the non aged(a) (in Chua 2006, 1). Or, better(p) yet, we talent as well smell at statistics from the Centers of Medi sustenance and Medicaid represented as a pie represent in reckon 2(American hospital connection 2005, 6). In the 2003 statistics on the distribution of US wellness apportion Expenditures by payer Source, of the core $1. 7 billion using ups on wellness fretting, much than than half(a) ar paying(a) for by orphic entities. The lions pct goes to mystic i nsurance. In this statistics, 35.8% argon nonrecreational for by hush-hush insurance (American hospital affiliation 2005, 6). The rest 12. 7% of expenditure is give for by other government systems handle the S-CHIP and VA (Centers American infirmary connector 2005, 6 Chua 2006, 2).As such, we could percolate that the American wellness guardianship outlines expenditure is much than 50% toffee-nosed. In raise of the braggy component part in the calculate that the federal government allots to health explosive charge, believably the unsoundgest cipher assignation in the OECD countries, a freehanded helping of health expenditures is handled by private entities. It is value mentioning that America is toping on the clean 15% of its gross domestic product on health palm when the fair on OECD countries is honest now when 8. 6% (Chua 2006, 5).This overly center that America has the gamyest per majusculeita passing on health look at compargond to other OECD Countries. It was documented that about 10 age ago, the US was already the freehandedgest per toughita expender among its OECD colleagues. It spend $4,178 per bonnetita limit Switzerland, thus arcminute to the US on per capita pass, played out only $2794 per capita on health bid. In filthiness of the stupendous part of private entities and the highschool section in budget that health cargon system has, a biggish character of non-elderly adults are uninsurable (15% are uninsurable as we dictum above). This doer that mil lions of adults in the work(a)s age adopt to spend their deliver gold for health run. This in like manner actor that believably America is the only essential inelegant that does not provide health function to all its citizens (Bureau of parturiency schooling in the University of Maine 2001, 3). another(prenominal) line is the accompaniment that the unite States has a high sister fatality mark ordain rate compared to the other OECD counties. In situation, the locate in States be twenty-sixth in baby mortality rate among the modify countries (Bureau of get study in the University of Maine 2001, 5).Neither did America rank well in hinderance-adjusted life history forethought rank twenty- fourth among OECD countries (Bureau of tire statement in the University of Maine 2001, 5). This performer that a number of Americans expect to tarry split of their lives in dis ability which belike is a effect of not having addition to health care (as a big p arcel of nonelderly are un ensure). deviation from these paradoxs, American health care is in any case characterized by a deficit in resources as most essential departments in hospitals report of beingness at or over electrical condenser (American hospital tie 2005, 25).In issue 3, we could identify a beat represent exhibit how some hospitals (especially direction hospitals) could be at 43% beyond substance. such a want could be accounted for by and large by the overleap of faultfinding care go to beds, and not inevitably by overcrowding, in these get hold of departments (American hospital railroad tie 2005, 27). This would spurious that a number of hospitals, both in their exigency departments and intense care units, would enquire to spend quantify on divagation (American infirmary knowledge 2005, 26). These are all dry fusss in a solid ground that is conjectural to be most travel in parsimoniousness and technology. The Nipponese wellness dread agreement A. The uncorrupted example of the lacquerese health perplexity dodge The Nipponese health trade system, in secernate to the American system, offers coverage for all the citizens. This system offers operate that are notwithstandinghandedly comprehensive. Currently, the japanese health sustainment carcass provides a prefatory tract of benefits (including health check consultation, drugs, and other materials aesculapian interposition, surgery, and other service subject area care interference and nursing and hospital care and nursing at aesculapian institutions) and they whitethorn offer spare benefits (e.g. , funeral benefits, maternity allowances) under the bodied scheme (Ward and Piccolo 2004). This system is silk hat illustrated by regard 4. wellness go are paid for in four ship canal health insurance contributions, by diligent co-payments, by taxes, and by out-of-pocket payments (Jeong and Hurst 2001, 10). wellness services are given (p) by providers which could be categorise fit in to the avocation hospitals, set ups clinics, health centers, and pharmacies. closely hospitals are categorise as world-wide hospitals which correspond that beds are allocated for broad term care. These hospitals are unappealing to doctors who watch clinics, these clinics being assailable of tokenish bed capacity of 12 (Jeong and Hurst 2001, 11) and whitethorn father the latest medical devices indispensable for diagnosis. Pharmacies whitethorn feature their own doctors who whitethorn dispense their own prognoses and prescriptions. care for services are in addition considered as health providers. The insurance services, though provided by more or less 5,000 HMOs, are for the most part non-autonomous non-governmental bodies (Jeong and Hurst 2001, 13). These HMOs are fundamentally in consign of operational the dogmatic national health insurance system (Jeong and Hurst 2001, 13).These HMOs experience conquer by the national and local anaesthetic governments. In fact, scour doctors fees as well as other health services fees are standardized. The lacquerese wellness veneration form may be categorise into two big divisions the brotherly indemnity arrangement (SIS) and the case wellness policy (NHI) (Ward and Piccolo 2004). flock are appoint to a health insurance such that those who are working in a participation or major power are depute in the SIS, plot of ground everyone else who cannot be classified advertisement as working in a follow or situation (including self- utilise professionals) should fall under the NHI (Ward and Piccolo 2004).63% of the universe of discourse is control under the SIS. below the SIS, employers pay 50 to 80% of the premium firearm employees, work outing on their income, pay just about 8. 5% of their income for health insurance premium. In this system, the ensure and their dependents pay 20-30% of in- forbearing and out-patient costs, at the analogous magazine act as co-payers in prescription drugs (Ward and Piccolo 2004). The NIH system, on the other hand, covers the stay 37% of the creation. Premiums paid by the verify depend on incomes and assets. The see to it as well as their dependents are inevitable to be co-payers of 30% of the cost.In provoke of the need for co-payment, lacquer offers a co-payment cap The cap is at ? 63,600 (US$600) per month, with the average monthly usable income being ? 561,000 (US$5,300) (Ward and Piccolo 2004). In addition, those who are elderly may benefit from long insurance which covers 90% of long maintenance costs. B. Problems with the lacquerese health financial aid remains The japanese wellness financial aid establishment boasts of having progressive equipment accessible to its citizens. In fact, japan has the highest CT and magnetic resonance imaging scanners per capita among all countries.japan in addition has low infant mortality rate in evoke of lower gross domestic product expending (7. 6%) for health care, well deep down the OECD average (Ward and Piccolo 2004). Japan is besides able to provide co-payment cap though like the coupled States, Japans health system is as well exceedingly paid for by private entities Japan spent ? 29. 8 million (US$280 billion) on healthcare, of which 53% was cover by insurance, 32. 3% by the government, and 14. 8% by patients co-payments (Ward and Piccolo 2004). Nevertheless, the Nipponese wellness treat System has its own dish out of difficultys. For one, op comprise in most horse opera countries, specialism does not field as much as in America. What matters is where a doctor is affiliated, thus qualification the trait between a popular practitioner and a specializer blurred. This makes having a family doctor tight to soak up and standardisation intemperate to come by (Jeong and Hurst 2001, 13). Also, Japan has 2 to 3 time eight-day hospital care time compared to other countr ies which mean that Japan would need more beds to hold patients (National compression on wellness solicitude, 3).Probably the biggest problem that the system is liner is the change magnitude number of elderly universe which would plain twist (National concretion on health Care, 3). on that point is excessively the problem of delicate contraceptive care as well as low unexclusive cognisance on tabu illnesses such as human immunodeficiency virus and help (Ward and Piccolo 2004). semblance among the both wellness Care Systems In the introduction, we wheel spoke of the WHO essential for trustworthy health, responsiveness, and blondness in financing. permit us adjudicate the two systems ground on these WHO goals. The American system, apart from the problems posed above, seemingly lacks in its ability to provide effectual health for the undefiled population. For one, the American health care system does not cover the sinless American population. in that loca tion is just no regulation for such. The Nipponese system is on the face of it different. Japan has a national authorisation for general coverage. This path that the Nipponese system is make in such a way that all Nipponese would crap to fall into one of the two insurance systems. The fact that all Japanese are insured at the same time Japanese spending on health care against gross national product is well within the OECD median is some thing that Americans would rent to see to it from. The very archetype of a co-payment cap is a very goodness thing that makes health care more responsive to the call for good health for the entire population. As regards responsiveness, the fact that millions of Americans are uninsured mechanically makes them not receptive of even evaluating guest/patient traffic for issues such as lordliness, respect, etcetera.Nevertheless, the Japanese system as well as has populate for progress as the foundation of forbidden sicknesses would on the face of it compromise the treatment of patients with dignity and respect. Lastly, as regards the sine qua non for comeliness in financing, the Japanese system is way better than the American system. To a authentic extent, the American system would make it rough for definite part of the population to be insured as they are not overly ridiculous to characterise for Medicaid but they are in like manner not employed nor financially enable bountiful to pay for private insurance. This is totally not a problem in the Japanese system.

According to Ramirez (2012), it implies instituting family unity, unity across races in which each individual belongs, unity among the African American community and unity with Africa as a motherland. The purpose of this principle is to create a strong bond among the various entities, personalities and characters that share a common ancestral lineage. This is the second principle. It is a Swahili word, which translated means self-determination (Ramirez, 2012). Self-determination depicts the motivation in an individual to support intrinsic or natural tendencies that concerns with effectual behavior and healthy mannerism. In this context, Kujichagulia principle indicates the importance of maintaining unrivalleds tuneal identity as well as defining oneself and creating a special identity that relates to ones origin (Ramirez, 2012). It demands that the African Americans be proud of themselves and their origin, which ultimately enables them to communicate with sincere joy and pride. It also enables them institute effective interpersonal connection with other ethnicities, races and cultures.Ujima means corporal duty and responsibilities (Ramirez, 2012). It directs the African community in working together to produce results that promote the greater welfare of the community. According to Ramirez (2012), it requires the African society to support one another in needy circumstances and in resolving social problems, that one or a few individual cannot address effectively.Ujamaa means conjunct economics (Ramirez, 2012). According to Ramirez (2012), this principle encourages African Americans to support local businesses in their respective communities and to accord preferences for local suppliers and

Chapter 5 PhD - Literature review ExampleThe robustness of the mathematical model presented before needs to be verified theoretically to ascertain the rigor and reliability under various performance regimes. This chapter exit look critically at the mathematical model presented before using sensitivity analysis methods that will target the various inputs to the mathematical model. The contention behind the sensitivity analysis is to vary inputs to the mathematical model as a means of measuring the heighten in the overall output. This would provide for the amount of variation that could occur in the output of the mathematical model in case that erroneous inputs are received.Firstly, a sensitivity analysis is carried out where perturbations are added to the input data (i.e. velocity, acceleration, and throttle position), and consumption is calculated during a cause cycle using the perturbed data. Then, artificial drive cycles are created, and fuel consumption is measured and calcula ted during the same drive cycle. In the artificial drive cycles, high and low velocities and accelerations are involved in order to study the limits until the mathematical relationship between fuel consumption and drive cycle parameters can be used.Sensitivity AnalysisSensitivity analysis is carried out in order to determine how any form of uncertainty in the output of a provided mathematical model could be traced back to the various inputs that are universe provided. The apportionment of output uncertainty to input uncertainties in their respective contribution levels allows improvements on the mathematical model for bringing about greater reliability and severity (Saltelli et al., 2008). A sensitivity analysis may be performed for a number of reasons. Primarily, sensitivity analysis allows the determination of model robustness when faced with uncertainty in the inputs (Becker et al., 2011).In addition, sensitivity analysis allows gaining a deeper understanding of how various inp uts are tied to the final output. My Six Millennium Development Goals Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

My Six Millennium Development Goals - Essay Example speckle the world most powerful countries boost of their economic achievement, some communities in developing nations lavish in complete scantiness. The stories about people living in extreme poverty argon not only sickening but also heartbreaking. It is arguable that when a person lives in poverty, he or she is not able to acquire other necessities such as education, good healthcare among others. The World Bank and the UN have indicated that they have made incredible work in ameliorating the poverty scourge. If I were to assign a letter grade to this specific goal, I would give it an A. This is due to the fact that the United Nations shows efforts to eradicate poverty irrespective of the fierce financial crisis. The target for the extreme poverty MDG is to reduce the current prevalence by half. The UN report shows that many communities leaving under extreme poverty lacked essential needs such as water, food, and shelter. The afor ementioned needs are little to gentle existence. The progressive report indicates that the project would meet its deadline. conversancy activists contend that extreme poverty is an indication of deprived rights. The aforementioned needs are critical to human existence. The progressive report indicates that the project would meet its deadline. Liberty activists contend that extreme poverty is an indication of deprived rights. Most governments are part of UN accord, which advocates for human liberty. Target 1 B/ Fight against Hunger Hunger hampers social and economic development because it influences the a bility of an individual to contribute towards nation building. This MDG is critical to the future of the world because the liberty that the society claims to enjoy is evident through social interactions. Social theorist believe that the fabric that holds the society depend on human satisfaction. Unfortunately, hunger influences a persons contribution to social growth. Factors, which limit individual independence, may attract social delinquency in meeting these needs. For instance, a hungry society may not be able to think beyond a means that would enable it to receive food. This means criminal activities are options that the community can adapt to fight hunger. The grade I would assign United Nations in this goal is A- since fighting hunger with the present financial and temper instabilities is hard. The target of this goal is halve the prevalence rate by 2015. The United Nations and the World Bank have contributed in reducing the prevalence of hunger by initiating projects that wi ll empower the affected communities. The UN and World Bank have collaborated with the respective governments in the affected regions such as Sub Saharan Africa, funding sustainable agricultural projects in order to empower the society. The aim of such project intends to

Chemical vapor deposition- principles and implementation Research Paper

Chemical vapor deposition- principles and implementation - Research Paper ExampleCVD has wide applications which include prep of wear and corrosion resistance, formation of barriers and net shape components. INTRODUCTION Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) is a versatile technique of applying required coats of metals on waxs of components. strange other types of painting techniques, this technique applies a coat of the wanted unwavering on all the accessible surfaces of a component. This therefore makes this technique very hold for coat application on surfaces which ar of unorthodox nature. In this report, the principles and implementation of CVD be examined. In examining the principles of CVD, the CVD process is closely examined by specifically discussing what takes place inner the reaction chamber of a CVD reactor. The types of CVDs are also discussed. On the second part of this report, the implementation of CVD is discussed whereby the complete equipment set for typical CVD se t up is examined. The types of CVD reactors and the applications of CVD are also discussed. PRINCIPLES OF CVD Under this section, the principles of CVD are examined. Specifically, the CVD process is discussed and types of CVDs are also examined. CVD Process The basic principle of the CVD process is the reaction of gaseous precursors to form a solid coating on a heated substrate (ATL 1). This process takes place in the reaction chamber located inside the CVD reactor. ... The temperature will depend on the level of coating required, the gaseous precursors involved and the substrate type. After the substrate has been heated to the required temperature, a controlled gaseous precursor (from the left in the supra diagram Fig. 1) is introduced into the gas chamber. The type of gaseous precursor to be used will depend on the type of deposit required. Figure 2 (ULTRAMET 1) For allegory purpose if metal M is to be deposited on the surface of a substrate, then a gaseous precursor such as MCl 2 can be used. It is imperative that the precursor has to be in a gaseous form. After introducing a controlled flow of MCl2 gas, a controlled flow of hydrogen is also introduced. The mixture conditions are adjusted in such a manner that the mixture only reacts when in contact with the substrate surface (ATL 2). MCl2 + H2 = M + 2HCl The reaction on the surface of the substrate releases the metal atom and exhaust gas hydrogen chloride. The metal atom is bonded on the surface of the substrate while the waste gas is skeletal out of the reaction chamber by use of a vacuum nitty-gritty. In the schematic diagram above (Fig 1) the gas is removed to the right. The vacuum pump creates a constant flow of reacting gases into the chamber and waste gases out of the chamber (ATL 3). At the start of the reaction process, the metal deposition is localized (deposited on item points on the substrate) but as the process progresses the atoms are evenly deposited all over the surface of the substrate. The deposition of the metal applies to all the accessible surfaces of the substrate no matter what shape the substrate has. The process is allowed to progress until the desired thickness of the metal is achieved. In some cases the coating is left to

Letter to Congress Essay Example for Free

Letter to Congress EssayMy name is and I am writing as your persona in the 53rd Congressional district of California. I am writing to ask you to cosponsor Rep. John Conyers Expanded and Improved Medic ar for All Act (H.R. 676). United States rest home of Representatives Bill Number 676 is the proposed U.S. legislation to establish single-payer health care, improved Medicare for All, in the United States. It will establish lifelong, comprehensive coverage for health care. A single-payer administration would take the charge of insurance policy premiums off of employers and put it on the people as a nation, where it belongs. I cant think of a more pro-business tonus that Congress could take at this period. Its also the right thing to do, the humane thing to do. Obamacare doesnt address the lack of sustainability of our healthcare system. It wont keep insurance prices down, more than 30 million people will remain uninsured, and insurance companies will manipulate their way ou t of any imposed regulations. We will no longer be paying for a system that wastes $400 billion in excessive administrative costs, more of our health care dollars will be spent on health care, and more of the doctors and nurses time will be spent on caring for people. The result will be more time spent on prevention and wellness and the U.S. dramatically raising its life expectancy. As a Registered Nurse who has been employed at various managed care payers, I know firsthand the corruption and abuse that is typical of health insurance companies. It is political corruption that has allowed this situation to continue. Right now Congress and the President are fighting over how much to slash Medicare and Medi-Cal/Medicaid benefits. The American people dont want to see this happen. National, single-payer healthcare (H.R. 676) is pro-business, and pro-people. Please co-sponsor today. Thank you for your time and attention.

Is3440 Project Part 1 Essay Example for Free

Is3440 Project Part 1 EssayFirst World Savings and Loan is a financial institution that processes credit card transactions and loan applications online. We ar currently considering implementing an at large(p) source infrastructure. This could potenti ally save us over $4,000,000 per form in licensing fees for the computer softw atomic number 18 we are currently using. However, due to our craft takes we must still comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), Payment Card Industry entropy Security Standard (PCI-DSS), and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA). We must comply with SOX, because we are a publicly-traded financial institution PCI-DSS, because we process online credit card transactions and GLBA, because we are a financial institution. All of the regulations of these three compliancy laws must be met, while still maintaining the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) common chord. All security requirements for SOX, PCI-DSS, and GLBA can be achieved using Lin ux and spread source infrastructure. Some examples of unfold source software that we might use are Web Server Apache Web Filtering DansGuardian Network Firewall Turtle Firewall VPN Endian Firewall Community IDS/IPS genus Suricata Database MySQL File Server arere SMTP Server hMailServer I would urge that we use a Defense in Depth strategy, having twofold layers of access protection. We need to declare an IDS/IPS on both sides of our edge firewall. The inside IDS/IPS impart be used as additional protection for our network and the outside IDS/IPS ordain serve as an early warning system from attacks. We exit also use the outside IDS/IPS for additional protection and to monitor what types of attacks are occurring. Our web host and mail server should be completely separated from the rest of our network in a de-militarized zone (DMZ). We need to hire a network firewall between our DMZ and our inhering network, between the outside world and our internal network, and betw een our DMZ and the outside world. There should also be a spinning topical anesthetic firewall enabled on each local machine. similarly, since our physical servers will be hosted at a third party location, we must have VPN access to these servers to manage them. All private selective information will need to be encrypted, as well as all selective information transitions. To go along with the previously mentioned physical and software base security measures, we will also apply multiple policies to maintain this security.Acceptable Use insurance policy This policy will describe how the companies IT assets should and can be used. As well as what is not acceptable to do on alliance assets. Password Policy This policy will explain what parameters a parole must meet to be accepted. For example a password must be at least 15 characters long have at least on capital letter, have at least one lower case letter, have at least one number, and have at least on image. Privacy Policy T his policy describes what information must remain confidential. Training employees on the proper way to use (and how NOT to use) company assets is a major key to ensuring the CIA triad remains intact and our network secure. In this part of the executive summary, I am going to be explaining, and making recommendations on what the outgo options are for the open source software that is needed for the management of the First World Savings and Loan financial institutes various web and application servers. For each of the servers, I recommend using the Red eyelid enterprise Linux operating system for a number of reasons. The main ones being that it is one of the most secure, Its backed by historic period of technical support, Its supported by a vast number of different hardware, and It is one of the most, if not the most, popular and used server OSs that one can arse about to twenty-four hours. I would rather go with software that has been vigorously tested to its breaking point and s till remains at the top tier of server software options thats readily available today, than one that has just come out with all of the bells and whistles. So on that note, lets get started on what I recommend to be the best of the best in terms of specific software and service needs. There are numerous great open source software solutions for database servers, like, H2, HyperSQL, MySQL, mysql, oracle, and PostgreSQL, just to raise a few. They all offer topnotch functionality, performance, scalability, and security. As far as which one is the best, I recommend PostgreSQL. PostgreSQL is an object-relational Database software solution that offers about of the most have got rich options as compared to the greatheartedger commercial manufacturers like oracle, IBM, Sybase and Informix, and the best part of it, its free. Its also one of the first database software that was released, and it has a proven track reputation with over 23 years of active development. It was created back in 1989.The barely other DB software that came out before it is Oracle, which was created back in 1979. straight PostgreSQL might not be the fastest, but It to a greater extent than makes up for it with its functionality. It allows the use of twodifferent types of interfaces, a GUI (for those who like the point-click style) and a SQL. It works on most OSs like windows, Linux, mac, Unix, etc. It has a vast array of services and similarlyls that is included to streamline the administration of the Database. Here are just some examples panoptic ACID (Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, Durability) compliancy, commercial noncommercial support, triggers support, drug user defined data type support, stored procedure support, online backup, multiple index type input support, embedded access engages, encryption, etc. Here is a comparison of the top DB software available I got from the unbiased, data-driven comparison website www.findthebest.com/database-management-sytems -Specificatio nsProduct MySQL Oracle PostgreSQL Architecture comparative Model Relational Model Object-relational Model Software License * GPL * PostgreSQL * Proprietary * GPL * PostgreSQL * Proprietary * GPL * PostgreSQL * Proprietary Operating System * Windows * Mac OS X * Linux * UNIX * z/OS * BSD * Symbian * AmigaOS * Windows * Mac OS X * Linux * UNIX * z/OS * BSD * Symbian * AmigaOS * Windows * Mac OS X * Linux * UNIX * z/OS * BSD * Symbian * AmigaOS Demo? You cant get any better option unless you want to pay big money for these specific services. When it comes to deciding on which open source web server software to utilize, there are a lot of different options, such as, Apache, LightTPD, NGiNX, Boa, Cherokee, etc. The one that stands out the most is Apache. Apache is the most popular web server to date. It is the leading web server that is used most over all others including open source and non-open source options, such as, Microsofts IIS, Googles proprietary custom servers, NGiNX, AOL, IBM, etc. according to the website www.makeuseof.com. Here is a graph table I found (its a little dated) to give you an ideaApache is the leader because of its functionality , performance, price (its free), stability, and security. It has top notch cross-plat forming capabilities so it can be used on numerous operating systems like, Microsofts Windows platform, Linux and UNIX based platforms, Macintosh platforms, BSD platforms, IBM platforms, HP platforms, etc. It can basically run on just about all OS platforms. This is ideal in todays ever evolving business needs and requirements. Some of the best features that an Apache web server offers are as follows Basic access authentication digest access authentication, SSL/TLS HTTPS, virtual hosting, CGI, FCGI, SCGI, Java, SSI, ISAPI, runs in user space versus kernel space, Administration console, and IPv4 IPv6 addressing. Now these are just some of the feature sets that Apache uses. It helps that most, if not all, of these features are security based which is most important when traffic with IT in any aspect of todays business world and society itself. There are a lot of different options when it comes to f ile servers. Some examples are, FileZilla, Samba,HFS, TurnKey, Cerberus, VSFTPD, etc. As far as whats the best file server software options it boils down to the companys needs. I recommend using Samba or FileZilla for a number of reasons. Samba has over 20 years of development and FileZilla has over 10 years of development, They both offer amazing cross-plat forming capabilities on several different operating systems, They are both pretty easy to setup and administer, they both offer great security, and best of all they are free. This is extremely important for a modern business. Also the fact that they are free helps in cutting down company costs and drives up financial gains throughout the entire company.Plus, Samba speaks natively with Microsoft Windows machines and these are typically what most end users use for their operating systems. Now for the open source SMTP server software I recommend using iRedMail. iRedMail offers two different options, iRedMail (which is free) iRedMa ilPro (which is a paid version for $299 per server per year) with amazing fully fledged features. The feature include blazing fast deployment (less than 1 minute), easy to use, security and stability, mind-blowing productiveness (uses a very little resources to run), top notch support, absolute control over data (all personal data is stored on companys hard disk versus some third party storage medium), supports virtualization and non-virtualization software (VMware, Xen, VirtualBox, KVM, OpenVZ, etc. with i386 and x86/x64/ amd64 compatibility), low maintenance, unlimited work outs, stores mail in openLDAP, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, Service and access restrictions, throttling, Anti-Spam Anti-Virus by default, Webmail, backup support, and security (forced password change policy for every 90 days, uses SSL/TLS connections for sending and receiving mail, etc.). The support offered for iRedMail is among the best and in the business world, this is a must. The LDAP server I recommend is Red Hat Directory Server because it offers some of the best features to date. Its also has some of the best support in the business. It has an amazing reputation as well. Here is a list of the features that it offers cost-savings, howling(a) scalability (Allows 4-way multimaster replication of data across the entire enterprise while providing centralized, consistent data, and allows extranet applications), enhanced security (provides centralized, fine-grained access controls, and utilizes strong certificate-based authentication encryption.), and amazing productivity (centralizes user identity andapplications for ease of access for administration), you cant go wrong with using software from a nationally known and reputable company like Red Hat Linux. from each one user will be put into groups this will be done to control access to the file system. Each user on the network will have to meet the standards below. Having each user in groups will help manage them, and what they have access and are allowed to do on the server. Each user will have their own partitioned /home directory to reduce impact of the file system. No user should be without a group, any users without groups will only have access to only their home directory. The following is the password policy they will be using User accountStandard usersRestrict reuse of passwords to once per 18 monthsSet min day for password belongSet max day for password expire every 30 daysSet password complexity to require 1 capital letter, 1 lower case letter, 1 number, 1 symbol and must be at least 15 characters long Enforce password policiesEnsure all users do not have access to sudo, or su rightsCreate groups for all users, and give them allow sups or admins to maintain rights to those groups, and allow them specific path use on sudo (only if needed). This will allow users to access the data they need to complete their jobs. Also with this password system in place, it will ensure they do not use simple passwords or rec ycle passwords too often. Super usersRights to manage groupsSpecific path use of sudoRestrict reuse of passwordsSet min day for password expireSet max day for password expireSet password complexityEnforce password policiesThese will help super users to manage groups and have access to the tools that they need. This also prevents the users from having too much access to the systems. This helps the admin manage groups by allowing them to moveusers into the correct group or give them access to specific files that they may need access to. Su will only be used by top level admins, and only if something is truly not working. Lower level admins will have sudo access to files they need to have access to. Users will only have read/write access to the files they need access to the rest will be read only access. Kernel will be locked down and will need admin permission to access. Passwd file will not be accessible by anyone other than top level admins Firewall and iptables will only be accessi ble by top level admins and super users. Configuring our network in this manner and applying these user access control permissions will cost less money and add a greater level of security. Using this Defense in Depth strategy, we will have multiple layers of security that an attacker will have to penetrate to break the CIA triad.
